On revolution: Any revolution that is going to work in the US is going to have to be marketed Coca-Cola style. Otherwise it will remain on the sidelines. Most people are working too hard to have free time and attention to spare for improving their country. The only good news is that media in some ways is more accessible than ever before. Now the trick is to get a meme going that will be cool, simple, and on-target enough to break through the lethargy barrier and get a huge number of people all to do one simple, non-destructive thing to communicate one demand that most Americans deep down do agree on. Finding that would be the toughest part. Impeachment? Even though polls are low, do most Americans really want to get rid of this president?

I think one thing worth starting a revolution about is to get Americans to STOP BEING AFRAID. The towers, really, were a few blocks in a part of a part of a part of Manhattan, which is a tiny part of New York, which is a part of NY state, which is a tiny part of the whole US...and yet people in Kansas worry about terrorists getting them, so much that they'll send their kids overseas to die to "protect" them. Get a better handle on that fear, and the government will control you less.

@Wisdomocracy: "Anyone who doesnt have a voice of dissent right now is part of the disease of society."
I've heard this before. From Bush. "You're either with us, or against us."

In an ideal sense, I agree with your overall point. The two-party system is ridiculous (countries much, much smaller, like Finland--the size of CA--have a lot more parties to choose from.), and as long as that exists, it's going to be very difficult to get a majority for an independent candidate, mainly because people are afraid to "throw away" their vote.

There are other systems, however. One way(which I can't remeber the name of) is to have a ballot where you choose your preferred candidates in order of preference; that way, in the last election you could have put your independent candidate as #1, Kerry as #2, and someone else as #3. When votes are counted, if the independent guy didn't get a majority, then your vote would go to Kerry. You could really vote for who you wanted, but could also indicate that if that guy doesn't make it, you don't want to take a vote away from the Democrats.

For obvious reasons, I don't think this kind of election reform would be very popular with the current forces in power...

Oh yeah, and TV IS draining the country of attention. So much local news, commercials and crap shows, so little focus on the world at large, that Americans had NO IDEA what hit them on 9/11. "Why do they hate us?" was such a common refrain, and the fact that the answer, "They hate Freedom." has been so widely accepted, still leaves me speechless. (Why don't "they" hate Amsterdam, then?)

My friend calls this "freedom noise," ie bullshit that takes up news bandwith so you can't hear anything of substance.

you obviosly havn't seen/read fight club. Just because something is spiritual doesnt mean that its peacefull. In fight club, they try to overthrow society and take us back to a hunter/gathererer society. Thats not what im talking about though.

The average american watches 4 and 1/2 hours of TV a day. What a useless thing to do with your life. Imagine if everyone threw away thier tvs, and ontead spent half that time exercising and half that time at thier public library educating themselfves about the world and thier countrys history. People like George Bush would suddenly find it alot harder to get elected.
Imagine if everyone woke up a realised that they only get one life. The wastefull consumer culture would fade away as people spent thier money on what they actually wanted instead of what ever the media tells them to. It is a sad fact that it is not because all these things are so hard that they do not happen, but because people are so lazy and careless.

True to that about our "liberals"...
My point is simlpy that seriously you cannot try to call for a "revolution" in the current world because that would not end well!Imagine what would end up occuring within the U.S if you were to trigger such a revolution against your government taking into account the number of guns and the size of the military in your country. You would not end up with a simple revolution you would probably end up with a civil war between the "hicks" and the "blacks".
You are clearly an intelligent person however calling for a revolution is absurd. You should be able to see that it would never work and that its never going to happen!Your country is indeed full of apathetic people and ignorant morons so theres any chance Bush will be re-elected in what two months time or whenever! I wish you luck then!

@Shrinkley - So America's founding fathers were communists? So the french who overran King Louie were communists? Maybe you should sit down and read the original manifestations of communism before you start labeling people as them, such a the reference in the Bible (Acts) and The Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital by Karl Marx.

I may think like a revolutionary, but communism "..strips the individual of the moral choice of how the individual should live his own life and instead is ruled, fed, clothed, educated as a social unit, accomodated in the proper housing unit and amused in accordance with the standards that give pleasure and satisfaction to the masses." (Props to whomever can guess the origination of that quote). I can promise you that's not what I want. Communism plays on the rage of the common people, but is no different then the exploitation techniques used by "dems and republicans" today. It's all about power and misdirection. I stand by the original framework of the United States constitution and the events that lead up to its creation as my theoretical backing of how a government should be and this current administration would have to re-write every article of the constitution (maybe even the preamble...) to justify the current events.

But the confusion on your part is justified, considering your countries major conservative party is referred to as "The Liberal" party. ... Ok, that was childish, but I couldn't help myself :-).

Does anybody remember how this country was founded? We, the middle and lower class, the common people, the proletariats, whatever you call them, outnumber then 100 to 1. Yet people still lack the hope and resolve to take action. We freed ourselves from Britain, we can free ourselves from the corporations. So are you tired of all this shit? Take up a pitchfork and do something about it. The people in charge depend on our apathy and carelessness. Hit them where it hurts, that means money. Stop paying taxes, stop supporting big bad businesses like walmart, and get your ass off distractions like the internet and tv. Simple solution to a complex problem. They need us, we don't need them. Machievelli outlined this as a possible circumstance in poor leadership. Martin Luther King helped educate our ignorance and used the act of civil disobedience to take action. The historical precendces are there... you are supplied the neccesary tools from birth, so let's try and use them.

Also, Marilyn Manson is one of the most well spoken, intellifgent people I ever had the privelege to hear. He plays shock music because of thick headed people like you, because it takes that type of music to get it through your heads, thats if your not scared to listen to his messages. Your mind is like a parachute, it only works if its open. I see you whizzing past me, hahahaha. SPLAT!!

Anyone who doesnt have a voice of dissent right now is part of the disease of society. Dissent is the only cure, and people like you Zack are our enemies. Dissent breeds wisdom. Ive done my homework, and I dont see any ideas coming from you. No one has ever made statues of the critics. See you on the streets my friend.

This sounds like some of these comments are from children who don't really know much. I mean Marilyn Manson running the country? Do you even know anything about Marilyn Manson? I'm sorry, but just by his looks alone other countries would start a war to take over America because they would think we have lost it! And I would probably agree with them! Just because you like their music and what they talk about doesn't mean they can run a country! I would take George Bush over Marilyn Manson any day!

Man, can you cry, complain or b-t-h somemore? can you get a life or at least try and buy a life? You are all slaves whether you want to believe it or not, slaves for sale to the highest bidder, slaves to the dollar, slaves to your buying and spending patterns which all are monitored. Ever here of each and every president signing away more and more of our rights away everyday? executive orders people, do some homework instead of playing video games, working yourself to death to by something new that is not worth the money, which money is soon to be a thing of the past, another terrorist so called attack and you will see the true agenda, once you are in office, you are now the leader and thats it, executive orders to fema to put everyone under marshall law and take away the freedoms that the forefathers put together. debt is so high, the econmy is going downhill, money, paper i should say is going to be worthless, wake up, he said she said, he did she did, and i cant believe it would happen here is history boys and girls, one world, one leader, one church, one people, thats the main goal coming soon to a theatre near you. Why not elect ALGORE--ALGAR(isnt that a demon) and Tipper, the head of the pmrc should be the next democrat to save the country and the world, be real, game over. you cant vote someone out, your vote means nothing, just stay asleep and stop pretending to care, it doesnt matter anymore, blame yourselves!

It doesnt really matter if President Bush gets voted out of office in next term, because there is already another "president" to this business we call United States Inc. being set up behind the scenes. Thats why they call it a 'president', it's just a company folks. These pyscho-paths are not stupid people, they know the game better than you and I. They cannont afford to lose grip on the US (and it's Army) at a time like this. NWO ladies and gents. That's why Bush is starting to be aggresive, he's realizing he's about to lose the best job in the world, and he doesnt want to be replaced by someone who will do it better. The only way for any sanity or control to be brought back to you'r populace is for the PEOPLE !!(not Demo's or Lib's)!! to hand pick someone completely removed from all politics thus coruption, and place their trust and support in them. JFK comes to mind, and we all know what happened to him... and his blood line. Every president that has been in office for any significant amount of time, EVERY ONE of them, has came from one of three ancient blood lines and was a Free-Mason, you better believe it. I wonder all the time why all these many organizations that see this obvious flaw in their governing body dont all rally together and choose 'one' person and make that their new focus/attack. Getting them into Office. People that we need in that office are people like Michael Moore, Marilyn Manson, or Cindy sheehan. People we KNOW! People who have suffered. Because they have stood beside us during these times, shouting in the same direction we have been. They need not be perfect, they need only be a Human Being. These leaders we have now adays are not Human Beigns. They are Slave Lords. We need to instill a new type of Democracy for all the worlds people, we should dub it "Wisdomocracy". Change the term to 1 year, and once we have that one trusted person in office, have them endorse a person for the people's consideration into office on the next year. The Incumbent will become the Vice-President, so he/she can watch that new guy/gal like a hawk! Democrat's and Liberal's are like using a two-sided coin, "Please choose either Puppet-A, or Puppet-B everyone". Soon we will have a council of trusted men and women that no corruption can infiltrate, and only then can progress be made for the benefit of Humanity.
We the breeding stock are getting angry, we cow's are rising up, and we WILL still the hand of the butcher! Peace everyone, and good luck! Mooo.

Which he has another 1 and a half months or, (worst case scenario) two year to change...

And if he doesn't there's every chance republicans could win again in '08, however I don't think John Mccain would be that bad as he has some liberal roots.

Please use some and any kinds of punctuation in your comments, other than your single colon. Otherwise they are very difficult to read and comprehend.

Just to let you know. We didnt vote him in either time. he stole the elections, just like (i believe) his father did. and now were finding out that its nearly impossable for common americans to impeach him; and trust me, we've been trying. apparently there are no channels for us to go through. petitions arnt working, rallies arnt working. im thinking if he gets elected again theres going to have to be a revolt. wouldnt that be an eye opener.

so before you judge us americans. remember, not all of us are blind.

Yo Junaman
WOW how stupid are Americans! Cant they see anything?
Im both shocked and appauled that G.Bush is still around despite all hes doing! Even worse is that our beloved Jonnie Howard is still being a spank bitch...You'd think that a country like ours would have the sense to step back from our closeness to America and try to hold up a little more on our own, Then again I suppose thats Americas foreign policy working on us!
Truly the idea of little Bush' of allowing torture to ocur within his own country{i admit thats debatable} is outrageous. It could be the satrt to something really really terrible. Seems like America is on a real moral slide at the moment and I hope it stops soon!
The idea of allowing torture to occur when its clearly ammoral is disgusting.
It reminds me of how the Russians forced fake confessions out of their enemies in order to have them killed. The Americans it seems want to do the same thing now, only for America its with Arabs rather than internal political enemies!
I just hope that Americans bother to vote so that Mr Bush can retire from fucking with my world!
