From your fucked up values and religious whacks like your president, to your arrogant “I love oil” nature and your love for attempting to fuck other countries up with your “superior” defence force. I hate the way you think that America is responsible for all good in this world. You’re not.

You did not invent human rights, you did not invent sliced bread, or the wheel, AND JESUS WAS NOT BORN IN TEXAS. NOR WAS HE WHITE.

AND HE DID NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR SISTER. Although I’m sure you did.

I hate you so much that I want to draw a tan^-1(1) with my fist to your face. (NO, YOU DID NOT INVENT TRIANGLES)

I hate how you complain about the price of oil, while you rape your planet with your fat ass, McDonald’s eating, gas guzzling fuck Hummers of hell.

I hate how you feel the need to liberate random countries from “oppression” and instill your proud and wonderful freedom and democracy.

I also hate your “Patriot Act” which effectively removes all forms of freedom and democracy from your country… and allows your government to go all fascist on you ass, while you sit in your homes and hate gays, blacks, Hispanics, Mexicans, the Spanish, Cubans, Latinos (that’s ignorance for you)

I hate how you destroy the English language using the letter z in random places, and leaving out u in others. Your education system is fucked up. NO ONE TEACHES CREATIONISM ANY MORE.

You piss me off by being the most religious country in the Western world, with your conservative values hindering the progress of mankind.

Well, it’s pretty clear that you hate Americans. That’s too bad. In general we are a pretty good group of people. We are no better or worse than any other group of people in history. Maybe we should be better. Most of the things you say about us is obviously based on what you see on TV, or what you learned from chating with 13 year old red-necks from Mississippi on IRC. I don’t fit into your image of American, and neither does anyone I know.

I live in New York. I don’t drive a car. I’m an atheist. I don’t proclaim democracy because we, my friend, are a republic. I reject the Patriot Act. Athough I am not crazy about our media, it’s not worse than any other, and since CERN created the internet, no one else has embraced it so fully. Also, if you think Bill O and Anne C define our media, then your country only has FOX (now that IS despicable). It’s important to understand that our media likes to report on the sensational. So it’s likely that the news you saw was not covering the daily life of a typical american, but rather something bizarre. We americans understand this. I’m sorry that isn’t clear to you.

It is difficult for a non-american to truly understand americans. If you throw a blanket over us and hate us all blindly then you don’t know us.

In our 220 year history, we have done some bad things. In our 220 year history we have done some brilliant things too. We are currently going through a bad time in our history, but hating us won’t convince any of us that what we are doing is wrong, it will just galvanize us against you.

No country is without problems and the people typically arent for what it takes to “fix” these problems. Education in America is superb for being a huge country, the only country’s that have better education are small countries who do not have to focus on much other than domesticating it’s populous, the average American is no bookworm though that doesnt meen that Americans do not have more potential than any other nation, our colleges are among the best in the world and there are many American geniouses who have changed the world and many more to come.

America has not come as far as it has by being stupid… you can go ahead and look at many other countries (particularly the hotile ones: Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, etc) who think they are so brilliant and take a look at how shitty their ecomomy is, and its kind of sad how their people are blinded from how much better their lives could be had their government cared more about them as oppose to their shitty belifes and insanities. Wow, that was probably the single dumbest thing I’ve read on the internet all week. Congratulations. With that said, we are not all oil and war mongering fat asses who live on McDonalds and drive Hummers everywhere. We do not all subscribe to the neoconservative views of the ultra-right wing. We do not all hate gays, hispanics, muslims, blacks, etc.. The majority of us are middle-of-the-road people who are just trying to get through life the best way we know how. We try to watch what we eat and get some cardio exercise ‘as much as we can’, and I’ll admit, it’s not enough. Most of us aren’t a fan of Bush, but more people than I’d care to admit like that bitch Tran Coulter and that abhorrent asshole Bill O’Reilly. I personally can’t stand pig headed people, and surely those two, as well as most of Bush’s cohorts qualify. You know what, though? At the end of the day, I hate America just as much as you do, and for all the same reasons. There just isn’t much to like about US anymore. It’s becoming a police state which not only polices it’s citizens, but the rest of the world as well, which will surely lead to a huge confrontation eventually, if not WW3. Have you ever heard of the PNAC? Look it up – Most of the current administration’s major decision makers are members, and they have been pushing for an Iraqi invasion since 1998. It’s sad how Americans have succumbed to the veil that has been pulled down in front of their eyes, and I am not so sure that anything will ever enable them to lift it up again – short of defeat. Well, I think this article has a point to it. This is how we are viewed outside of our country (and even inside of our country). Obviously to different extents. America is a great country, but it took a lot of time to become that way and a lot of great people and minds but the depressing thing is, its like building a beautiful house and then renting it out to people who trash it and fuck it up. When those fuckers move out, it can be fixed in a short matter of time. But realistically looking at our nation, or more so our administration, the damage is a lot more severe and isn’t easily fixed.

And there are so many things that aren’t even brought up. Many Americans are starting to strongly dislike America. False reasons to go to war? 9/11 conspiracies gaining more creditibility? Rigged voting machines? America as a whole is becoming more and more ignorant and seperated. All the while, Americans are trying to speak up for what they believe in while support our troop magnet, SUV driving, tell them they are scum.

When your government is wrong, it’s dangerous to be right.

And yeah, we have people obese here while people in Africa starve to death. That’s pretty fucked up. However, nothing is ever going to change until America inevitably crumbles. And then the cycle repeats itself somewhere else.

Guys, I am somewhat pleased to hear how much this guy hates America. Hopefully it will lead to a realisation that the world hates you for a reason.

With all the Anti-American feelings around the world right now its easy to blame Bush. After all, the world seems to be in steady decline since he came to power, right? Its all too easy to forget that Clinton, Bush Snr, Regan etc have a huge responsibility in all this.

I really can’t see why everybody is so angry right now. There’s no point in being angry, it accomplishes nothing. Every place, every nation, religious group, race whatever has their idiots. You act like your country is so much better, everybody tries to find a scapegoat and in this case it’s the United States( if you haven’t checked out a map lately America is two continents consisting of a North and South, idiots). You first have to look at your faults. Iraq, the African nations, any other place that is struggling right now has to see that they didn’t start out in the condition that they are in now. America, as junaman has subtly alludes to, is home to many stupid ideas and also a fair amount of ignorant people – like any country, but we hear more about them.
Remember, in the 1940’s, a non-Fascist, democratic Europe would have been screwed without the yanks. In the 1950’s, a non-totalitarian, democratic Korea would have been screwed without the yanks. Democratic Europe would *probably* have been screwed by the USSR if not for a bizillion yank warheads. And more recently, the Taliban, a US funded organisation designed to fight against communist aggression in Afghanistan, is gone, initiated by the yanks. This means democracy, freedom for women etc in Afghanistan.
America screws things up badly – Vietnam, Iraq 1, Iraq 2, Guantanamo, the list can go on – but they do alot of good as well.
So don’t hate them too much. But healthy criticism and the odd terrorist attack can keep them grounded in reality.

I think the main problem we have is that the infuriating wankers are the most outspoken, therefore we hear more from them.

The infuriating wankers in this case being the KKK, NRA, Republican extremists (generally fat), and a few other parties- Michael Moore & Morgan Spurlock, as much as I like their work, are responsible for making us think that America is a land of obese, racist, homphobic fascists.

However, we hear little-to-nothing from the average middle-class in America- the largest representative of America. After speaking to a few of the true typical Americans, I have realised that the part we love to hate is a small but significantly-voiced portion of the pie.

It’s a good blog considering a stereotype, but remember that there are is a large mass of decent people who aren’t spoken for.

I am a former Marine. Yet I am constantly torn & frustrated by my country. The problems we are facing today were not started by this administration. But they certainly have been accelerated them. I spent a couple years on the road, traveling from town to town for a particular job. I have traveled over seas and I consider myself to be culturally “aware”, as opposed to most of my fellow americans, who walk around with blinders on their entire lives. Robert Maynard Hutchins once said “The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference, and undernourishment. Americans have stopped caring. Their emotions are wound up in what they are fed to care about by the media. School text books are changed to make our history more appealing. Ignorance is bliss. People now are more interested in what Paris Hilton is wearing than what their government is voting on. Everything got easy, too easy. People expect everything to be done for them. I honestly wonder that if we were attacked by another large country (like China) while the majority of our troops are over seas…just how many Americans would be willing to risk their lives, pick up a gun and fight? Sure there would be lots who would, but I believe there would be more who wouldn’t. People are more interested in saving their own butts, eeking out their own existance, and complaining and feeling frustraded when they dont win the lottery. America has lost its way, money hungry, greed driven bastards have been enabled to take control in every portion of our government. I liken us all to train cars; we used to take an interest in where we were being pulled by the engine…now we are all just staring out the windows of the cars, complaining that the engineer took the wrong fork in the tracks…but im rambling. I dont hate my country, I hate that people are indiffent to what is happening, I hate that people are affraid of change, I hate that we lower our own standards to make ourselves feel better…sometimes i just want to move to a foriegn country and not think about it all anymore. But that would make me as bad as everyone else. i dont want to be a part of the problem, i want to be a part of the solution. So everyday i forward emails with links to stories like this one, or political stories or history stories…anything i think a typical person WOULDNT be clicking on without someone suggesting it. I guess I just feel like; if just one of my emails gets forwarded on to just one uninformed person, opens their eyes, makes them more aware…then I’ve done what I can do for my country today.

hmmm…well, I must say that I can’t help but to agree with this thread. Americans are arrogant and apathetic, and that combination is extremely dangerous. Im American, meaning I live here in Arizona ha, but I don’t want to. And of course there are going to be those of you lower forms of scum who are going to reply that I should get out then! yeah well, I would if I could. Some of us don’t have a choice you know. What the hell am I supposed to do? Make a million dollars and flee the country, because thats what im sure a lot of want to do. But please be realistic with your thwarts and rants. Did that! and not for Bush, although even Kerry would have made a bad president, but I voted for the lesser of two evils on that one. This article was extremely clever but maybe a bit overzealous in its delivery. For all of you (Americans and others aside) who do not understand the point of this article, here it is the way I see it (please correct me if I got it wrong- junaman): this article was not only meant to convey the thoughts and feeling of the author but it is done using a stereotypical example of how Americans stereotype other nations/races etc. Simple as that! Americans who went crazy above clearly didnt get that and now they know how it feels!
I do agree with some of the points above. America is certainly not the best country in the world. Their economy although the ‘best in the world’ relies heavily on national debt and repatriated profits from other countries, which could easily crash anytime soon. Translated to GDP per capita they have one of the worst in the developed world (Ireland being the best I do believe). Their military is overstretched and under supplied meaning that an attack on America from a large nation such as China, could not be repelled (easily anyway). America’s education system is poor compared to other developed nations (although top level universities such as Ivy league are good, the aggregate level is quite low). Also their civil ‘freedoms’ are a mere sham. European countries, even former communist countries have more freedoms than average Americans.
I dont hate Americans but I do hate their system of government and the clowns they have running it now! America does provide a lot for other countires but nowhere near as much as they believe. Americans have get up off their self absorbed asses and take notice of the rest of the world and how many of us equal and surpass their country. Unless that happens we will be stuck with the gun waving, fascist, neo conservative bible bashing fools like some of the above whose ignorant minds cannot fathom anything beyond what their television tells them.
For the record, I am not anti religion (I am an Irish Roman Catholic) but I believe in peoples rights to believe whatever they want in regards to religion with an open mind!

I hear alot of bitching from people that live around the world and people that live in The United States of America.
To the people that do not live in the USA, I say this. If you hate us so much then why do we have more people tryting to move here than any other country? why do we have so many people coming to this country for schooling? Why do we have so many countries asking the USA for help when things go wrong in their own country? Just seems strange for being the most hated country in the world.

To those Americans here that are talking about hating things so much…..Leave. Travel the world and I dare you to find a better place to live.

Is everything perfect here? Of course not. Name one place on the planet where everything is perfect. Are there greedy powerful people here? Well, duh. Of course there are. Again I dare you to find one country on this planet that does not have its share.

If you live here then get into politics and become the perfect politician that you all want. If you are from another country then take this as any kind of challenge you want it to be. Try to change things the peaceful way are try it the violent way. Peaceful you might have a chance but everyone knows that if it comes to war you are fucked. Someone posted earlier that we cannot defeat some pissant third world countries. the only reason for that is the fact that we know what should be done to end these conflicts yet our morality sometimes stops us from wiping out the problems completely. We try to help these people and it comes back to haunt us.

I love America. I believe in what it stands for. Right now I wish America would decide as a whole to cut itself off from the rest of the world. Let you all deal with your own problems. It would be interesting to see what you complain about then. It would most likely be that we are selfish bastards for not hepling out. How many countries in this world can honestly say that they have never accepted help from the USA in one form or the other? I cant think of any.

I know that most of you will just say that I an an ignorant, uneducated, American so I will not bother to list my academic credentials.

It simply comes down to this. Love us or hate us, the world needs us. You need someone to blame. You need someone to do what has to be done when no one else can. If it were not for the dedicated and heroic efforts of the United States Armed Forces this world would be a very different place. Most of you would probably be speaking German.

I am a 19 year old in college. I believe most of America (the middle and the south) is stupid morons. I hate how American still buys SUVs and waist oil. I hate the media for how shitty they cover topics and how they water down war footage. I hate how our media is owned by corporate business and promotes their own interests instead of reporting on it.
I hate our government for spending hundreds of billions on the military and yet they recently raised the price of STUDENT LOAN! They are taxing broke college students to help pay for bombs. I hate how Bush cuts taxes for the rich. I hate how little our country pays attention to politics. (50 % of still believe Iraq had WMDs)
It pains me to see such a dumb pawn in power of the most powerful nation in the world. I hate America’s double standard of having hundreds of nukes but not allowing other counties to do, as they will. I hate how religious and conservative America is.

Okay, motherfuckers, straight up here’s what it’s all about. I am an American. I hate America. More to the point, I hate the use of those terms in reference to this country and its citizens. Calling this country “America” and those of us living in it “Americans” smacks of the most vile and despicable arrogance possible and a self-centeredness that is an underlying cause of the hatred that many of the people of the world have against this country. Bush’s pathetic attempt to ascribe it to hatred of our way of life is, in a way, true. But back to America.

America is not one country but two continents, 39 countries and 850 million people. Yet the term has been usurped by this country in a way that exemplifies its treatment not only of the people of North and South America (look at our relationships with Canada and Mexico, for example) but of the world at large. The term’s use betrays arrogance and a ruthless attitude that demands and extracts special privileges enforced through the use of brute military power to acquire and control the world’s resources.

The term betrays an attitude that has rightly been labeled “the Ugly American.” It is an attitude that began with the birth of this country as the first white settlers claimed Manifest Destiny as the basis for slaughtering the native peoples and stealing their lands. It is an attitude that justified kidnapping Africans from their homes and treating them as slaves to be bought and traded as personal property. It is an attitude that grew with the expansion of capitalism beyond these borders as country after country was invaded and their people were subjugated, slaughtered, or starved (the new fad). It is an attitude that says that all is fair in the pursuit of profit, especially when one has the military might to make it so.

This is what “America” means and it does not speak well for the future “America” as envisioned by Bush and Co. That vision includes never-ending war against the people of the world under the guise of fighting terrorism. As a veteran of the U.S. military, I find it very hypocritical for the U.S. to claim to be fighting terror. Smedley Butler said in 1933:

“I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service … and during that period I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.”

The Bush and Company’s vision constitutes a future where freedom and civil rights are ground under the boot heel of Homeland Security. It is a future where critical thought and any criticism of the government are labeled traitorous and where patriotism is mindless allegiance to a flag and the nations “leaders.” It is a future in which country after country and people after people are subsumed to the capital interests of the U.S. and in which the United States military machine reigns supreme, meting out its own brand of justice to those who refuse to go along.

America tells alot of lies through the media and wants the rest of the world to live how we the Americans want to benefit ourselves.

Instead of trying to kill the alleged terrorists, they should first try to see why these people hate them so and solve that problem, however they already know why and know they are in the wrong so just fight the people who refuse to submit to American propaganda and foolishness instead of asking why.

Why is it only America that is targeted and not Brazil or Greenland or Hungary? These people must have a reason and a very good one to be so bent on fighting against America.

As an american who moved out a long time ago and is very far removed from all of the hoo hah surrounding the US/Iraq debacle I’d say I am fairly objective about this issue. I for one find it hard to believe that Iraq can pose such a huge threat. America has bombed Iraq more than once, and more than once was it a crushing defeat to Iraq. I honestly don’t see how they can still be as big a threat as Bush and Rice are making out. America has completely destroyed Iraq’s armies, their planes and their ammunition stockpiles. The previous weapons inspectors to Iraq testified that all Iraq’s long range missiles were destroyed. Why on earth would you want to put that country’s poor, innocent people through another war? The whole of the western world was up in arms over September 11 and rightly so. But has the American government taken stock of the innocent (just as innocent as the people in the World Trade Center) who have died because of their trigger happy attitude?! I honestly don’t see a difference between the hijackers of the 9/11 planes and George Bush and Condi Rice. They’re all trying to make a point through violence and innocent people gets hurt. And it is wrong.

I think in the long run America is going to learn a very harsh lesson from all of this. Violence begets violence, and you might bomb the crap out of them. But one day another 9/11 is going to happen. And it will be because our government alienates the world through sheer ruthlessness. I think going to war is the furthest from being right that Bush can get. The world hates us, America, and it’s our own fucking fault!

Um no, all you America haters are wrong. Believe it or not America’s #1 priority is to ensure that something be done about the problems around the world that obstruct the goal of world peace. The only enemies of the American sovereign nation are those who stand in the way of freedom and peace.

This is Nobel regardless of anybodies opinions, this is how it is. You cannot bitch about a country because certain things happen as a result to war. Nobody will be taken seriously if they argue the motive of a well thought out war which had been initiated to eliminate a threat to world peace, it started in WW2 and the Allies won. I’m sure many people thought America should have minded their own business and stay out of the war, lets take a look at the result; Hitler and his forces had been neutralized, the war ended and finally stability had returned to the nation (after cleaning up the mess).

You can argue whether or not America has a right to do what it is they do, but if you are going to question it, do so objectively; saying “Fuck you America” is not objective, and it is this hate that contributes to the problems around the world. You don’t see America, the UK, India, or Israel scream out in hatred, these countries are well developed nations who KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, do not presume to think that you know the answers as to why things happen or how a country to be run.

The majority of people who like to argue politics (and have NO political background or authority) are all horribly mistaken and extremely over-opinionated, these people have NO CLUE as to what is RIGHT and what is WRONG. You can yell and scream all you want, but you are not doing a good job in convincing people that your opinion matters in the least bit… because it doesn’t. You want to argue matters, do some research, establish a hypothesis, conduct a survey/experiment, test your hypothesis and express a legitimate explanation of why anybody should care about your theory and state how you might be able to make a difference.

If one does not follow this method of speech and communication, they will NOT be taken seriously and their efforts will only come back to kick them from behind. All you hypocrites are the reason why humanity appears shitty.. These issues can be resolved though logic and reasoning, not emotion and unrealistic conclusions derived from mere opinion.

All America haters will learn their lesson at some point whether it be a result of collateral damage, or if you’re lucky, some light will be shed on you and you will finally know that you are not benefiting humanity at all. Maybe then you too will be a product of modern civilization and could possibly aim to work for a higher selfless goal. -Proud to be an American

PS – All of your previous comments have proven my point, if you disagree, then go read a book about sociology and psychology; take a look out how humans work and how confused and naive we are designed to be, then go ahead and right a research paper about the progression of human modernization and take a look at why certain nations have developed systems to ensure that people’s chaotic nature be kept tame and stable. Well some of this seemed to be a bit of a rant against people who have differing opinions and wish to express themselves. Can I just say that every thought contributes to policy in every country and community. By proposing that people’s views don’t matter at all is ridiculous, if person x’s opinion doesn’t matter, who is going to do the thinking? But that argument is inherently flawed, it shoots itself in the foot. People have to have opions, regardless of aactual on the ground experience. For example, I have never been to Iraq, but from what I hear, read and see, I know that it is not a pleasant place to be in (nor was it when Saddam was in power). My opinion and theory is worth arguning and talking about, even if you think it is trash. If we do not discuss my theory, I am not likly to change my opinion. Put this into the context of homophobics, racists, anti-semites and terrorists, and soon we start ignoring these serious problems while they grow unchecked.
Although you might believe that America UK Irael are the best countries etc. , remember that a country who cannot take criticism is a country ultimatley doomed to dislike and failure. By hiding behind the banner of patriotism, you refuse to confront the problems that ARE there in your beloved country. Yes American democracy is effective at creating a society that is productive and wealthy, but you cannot ignore the steady erosion of civil liberties, the homophobia and the neglect of the poor.

Man, I hear you. America (but NOT ALL Americans – it’s a distincion we oft forget to make) has screwed us ten times over. But I have to point out ONE little error.

The Z in organize, realize etc. is correct Oxford English. The UK only adopted the S a few decades ago and The Oxford Guide to English shows us that the Z has been in use in the British Isles since around the 16th Century. All the Oxford Press publications prefer Z to S, as does the Times Literary Guide. Plus, most MAJOR international organisations (which use English English and not US English) such as UNESCO, the WHO etc use Z.

Time the Brits (I’m an Irish Australian living in Scotland!) learned more about their own language. It’s fun – and righteous – to beat up America for it’s idiocy, but we sound like bigger idiots if we don’t know the facts.

I started out typing up some hateful stuff. I loved what the author of this blog had to say and still do to a certain degree. The man is surely intelligent…no doubt there BUT (remember I love ya man) but, after smoking a fat “J” and I had time to settle down and think rationally, I decided that this blog was written with very high emotion and it was written with conviction, however, I think that the point of all of this is not to taunt America and she goes down but to remember not to become her clone. I have agreed that I believe the US is getting their kick in the ass from the Karma gods. It is fact that the US has taken much more that it gives. The culture, or lack of, is greedy and the real shame is that the greed is spreading all over the planet. The US is responsible for a lot of this shit. However, let us remember that the planet will go down the tubes because of us all. One country cannot bring down the planet solely. It takes s all of us to do that. Having just generalized everyone who lives in the US, oops, not all of those people are useless “fucktards”. It is the wealthy ruling elite for generations who have screwed that country royally, not the “good” people who do exist there in great quantities. The burden that the “good” people have to bear, is that they continue to let these REPUB’s/DEM’s dismantle how far you’ve come ( far from perfect, but far just the same ) into what’s looking more and more like a police state, which then answers to nobody and then WE’RE ALL FUCKED if that happens, which it surely is going to. It is in no one’s best interest to see the US fail. If they the citizens don’t put an end to it all very soon, they will have to fight to get it all back. I feel sorry for everyone that has so much anger toward anyone-especially an entire country. That is a lot of people-most of which are probably innocent. You are carrying way too much on your shoulders to think you can change so many people-especially with comments like that. We all make mistakes. We all make bad choices at some point in our lives. I agree it is sad that one man-a president-should be responsible for so many people-to try to keep them safe against another entire country. In a perfect world we would all realize that noone is perfect-punish only those that purposely hurt others. Not be prejudice toward anyone-for anything. Not to blame so many people for choices that a few make. To care about everyone. To realize that a different race or color is not a flaw. It is what makes us all unique. Instead of attacking ones religion-try to respect their beliefs, Instead of atacking their education-try to help to improve it. As far as I could tell-from reading most of the comments (not all) we all need better educated-(especially in the world of spelling). (even our president has proven that-over & over) We do not all know everything there is to know. We have so much to learn. As a country-nation-world; We should all respect each other as neighbors and try to coexist in peace. No matter what religion you are-no matter what you believe in-you all have to admit-you believe what I am saying. I am not an extremely religious person, but I do believe in God. I am not a hateful person-although there are things that I do not like. I am not prejudice in any manner-except that I do not like hotdogs (a true American!) I do not like the way things are being handled right now, but I admit that I do not have the answers either. I do not believe in fighting violence with violence so in that respect I do not like war. I am not perfect nor do I expect anyone else to be perfect. I do not like to hurt anyone, but I do stick up for my rights-And I stick up for the truth. I do not like to fight, but I will fight for what is right-by speaking my mind. I hope you-the person that wrote the very first comment that sparked all of the interest from everyone else to comment on it can find a way to not be so angry. But, I also hope you continue to speak your mind. We all have a right to our own feelings and to our own opinions-whether you live in a free country or not.
